Play DVDs on Xbox One using the Blu-ray player app
As mentioned earlier, to watch Blu-ray or DVD movies on your Xbox console, you first need to install the Blu-ray Player app. No additional software is required but it is important to mention here, the Blu-ray Player app doesn’t apply to the Xbox One S All-Digital Edition because it lacks a disc drive. Go to your Xbox Home Screen and use the right back trigger on your controller to head to the Store. When in Store, scroll down to the Search bar and select it by pressing the A button on your controller. Type Blu-ray in the search bar and when the result populates, select the app. Hit the Install button visible on the Details page. The Blue-ray app is free for use.
Alternatively, you can insert the DVD disc into your Xbox and then, select the Blu-ray Player app when it appears to install it. Once the app is installed you can launch it and your disc should start playing automatically Thereafter, when the movie begins to load, its menu screen will appear. You can use the directional pad and A button on your Xbox controller to manage the movie options.
